Terms & Conditions
The short version. Rodney the Raindrop is free to play. Grown-ups can buy optional raindrops, sticker packs and a Rodney Club subscription. Digital items are delivered straight away, so once they're delivered the usual 14-day cancellation right no longer applies, but your legal rights if something is faulty always do. You can cancel the Club at any time. If something goes wrong, email us and we'll help.

1. About us
The Adventures of Rodney the Raindrop (“Rodney”, “the game”) is run by Stephen Payne, a sole trader trading as Rodney the Raindrop, based in the United Kingdom (“we”, “us”).
Contact us at info@rodneytheraindrop.com. We aim to reply within 2 working days.
2. Who these terms are for
Rodney is made for children aged 2 to 6 to play with a parent or carer nearby. These terms are an agreement between us and the parent or guardian who sets up the game for their family (“you”). You must be 18 or over to accept them and to make any purchase.
By using the game, or letting your child use it, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the game.
3. The game
- The game runs in a web browser. There's no account to create. Progress is saved on your device, and you can choose to sync it between devices with a family code.
- All adventures and games are free to play. We may add, change or retire adventures, games and features to improve Rodney.
- We try to keep Rodney available at all times but can't promise it will never be interrupted, for example during maintenance or if one of our providers has a problem.
- The educational content is simplified for young children. It supports early learning but isn't a substitute for school, nursery or professional advice.
4. Raindrops and stickers
- Raindrops are an in-game currency. Children earn them by playing (up to a daily limit), from daily gifts and from gifts a grown-up sends. They're spent on stickers in the child's Treasure.
- Raindrops and stickers have no cash value. They can't be exchanged for money, transferred to another family or sold.
- Raindrops and stickers belong to the child profile they were given to. Deleting a child profile also deletes its raindrops and stickers.
- Game progress, including raindrops and stickers, is stored on your device. If you clear your browser data or lose your device without family sync turned on, it can't be recovered. If you've made a purchase and lose it this way, contact us with your family code and we'll restore it where our records allow.
5. Buying extras
- Optional extras (raindrop bundles, sticker packs and Rodney Club) can only be bought from the Grown-ups area, which is protected by a question meant for adults.
- You can buy a sticker pack for one child or for several of your children. Buying for several children gives you one copy of each sticker per child.
- When you buy a sticker pack you can keep it in your family reward stash instead of giving it straight away. Stickers in your stash are delivered to you when you pay; you then give each copy once, to any of your children, and no child receives the same sticker twice. While a sticker is in your stash your children can see it and wish for it but can't buy it with raindrops.
- Prices are shown in pounds sterling before you pay. Payments are taken securely by our payment provider, Stripe. We never see or store your full card details.
- Your contract with us is formed when your payment is confirmed. Your purchase is then added to the child profile you chose, usually straight away.
- Children can't buy anything. When a child can't afford a sticker, they can add it to a wish list (up to 5 items). Wishes appear in the Grown-ups area with the price in pounds. Nothing is bought unless you choose to buy it, and you can dismiss a wish with "Not now".
- Each grown-up in the family can have their own raindrop wallet. Raindrops you buy for a wallet can only be gifted to children in your family as stickers or raindrops; they have no cash value and can't be exchanged for money. Parents can see every wallet. Parents can also invite other family members (for example a grandparent) with a private link. Invited family members only see the children's names, raindrops and wishes, their own wallet, and can send gifts and messages; they pay for their own top-ups unless a parent tops up for them. Parents can see every gift and message in the gift log and can remove an invited family member at any time.
- You can set a monthly spending limit in the Grown-ups area. While it is set, one-off purchases that would take you over it are blocked on every device using your family code. Club subscriptions are managed separately.
- We may change prices from time to time. A change won't affect a purchase you've already paid for.
- If an item is shown at a clearly wrong price by mistake, we'll contact you before delivering it and offer you a refund if you'd rather not go ahead.
6. Rodney Club
- Rodney Club is a subscription costing £4.99 a month or £39.99 a year and covers up to 3 child profiles. Family Club costs £6.99 a month or £54.99 a year and covers up to 6 child profiles. Each covered child profile gets 1,000 raindrops each month, a double daily gift and a Club badge while your membership is active. Covered profiles are the first ones created in your family. You can upgrade from Rodney Club to Family Club at any time; you pay the difference for the rest of the current period straight away. A family can have up to 6 child profiles.
- It renews automatically at the end of each month or year and you'll be charged the price then in force. If we raise the price, we'll tell you at least 30 days before it applies to you, so you can cancel first.
- You can cancel at any time from the Grown-ups area (“Manage or cancel”) or by emailing us. Cancelling stops future renewals. You keep your Club benefits until the end of the period you've already paid for, and any raindrops already given are yours to keep.
7. Cancelling and refunds
UK law usually gives you 14 days to change your mind about an online purchase. For digital content that is supplied straight away, that right ends once the content is supplied, as long as you agreed to immediate supply and acknowledged that you'd lose the right to cancel.
When you buy raindrops, a sticker pack or a Club membership, you ask us to deliver it straight away and you agree that you lose your 14-day right to cancel once it has been delivered. We ask you to confirm this before you pay.
We know little fingers can tap the wrong thing. If you made a purchase by mistake, email us within 14 days. If the raindrops or stickers haven't been used, we'll normally refund you in full as a goodwill gesture.
Refunds go back to the card or payment method you used, usually within 14 days of us agreeing to them.
8. If something is faulty
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, digital content must be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality. If something you bought doesn't work properly, tell us and we'll fix or replace it. If we can't do that within a reasonable time and without significant inconvenience to you, you can ask for some or all of your money back.
If digital content we supplied damages your device or other digital content, and this happened because we didn't use reasonable care and skill, we'll repair the damage or compensate you.
Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights. For more information, contact Citizens Advice.
9. Using the game fairly
Please don't copy, change, resell or redistribute the game or its content, extract or reuse its code or artwork, try to get around its purchase or parental features, interfere with how it works, or try to access parts of it you aren't meant to. We may suspend family sync or purchases for anyone who does.
10. Our characters and content
Rodney the Raindrop, his friends, the stories, artwork, music, games and the game's name and logo belong to Stephen Payne, and are protected by copyright and other intellectual property rights. We give you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the game for your family's own non-commercial enjoyment. You may share the game's link with friends.
You must not copy, download, extract, reproduce, decompile, reverse-engineer or reuse any part of the game's code, artwork, characters, stories, music or other content, in whole or in part, or create anything derived from it, whether by hand or using an automated tool. Nothing in these terms gives you any ownership of the game or its content.
11. Screen time and supervision
Break reminders, the grown-ups question and other safety features are there to help, but they don't replace a grown-up's supervision. You're responsible for how much and when your child plays and for keeping the Grown-ups area answer out of their reach.
12. Our responsibility to you
- We're responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or not using reasonable care and skill.
- We don't exclude or limit our liability where it would be unlawful to do so. This includes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, and for breaching your legal rights in relation to the digital content we supply.
- Rodney is for private family use. We aren't liable for any business losses.
- We aren't responsible for problems caused by your device, browser, internet connection or by events outside our reasonable control.
13. Changes and ending
- We may update these terms, for example to reflect new features or changes in the law. We'll show the date of the latest version at the top of this page, and tell you in the game about important changes that affect you.
- You can stop using Rodney at any time. To remove everything from your device, delete your child profiles in the Grown-ups area or clear your browser data. To delete family sync data, email us your family code.
- If we ever close Rodney, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice and refund any Club time you've paid for but won't be able to use.
14. Disputes and the law
If you have a problem, please contact us first so we can try to put it right. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You can bring a claim in the courts of England and Wales, or if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, in the courts where you live.
